I have thick dry hair and I am always looking for the best way to keep my hair looking and feeling soft, and my scalp from being a mess. Years ago my hairdresser recommended adding tea tree oil to my scalp when shampooing and it worked but I got lazy and stopped adding this step to my routine. The company Maple Holistics recently sent me a sample of their tea tree shampoo and asked that I give it a try and share my thoughts. I was intrigued to try one of their products because as with my food, I like my beauty products to be as natural as possible and Maple Holistics focuses on all natural, sulfate-free, paraben-free, and cruelty free products. I think it is so important to decrease or avoid chemicals as much as possible and as I am moving more into the world of veganism, I appreciate that they do not test their products on animals. Also, their bottles are BPA-free and recyclable.
I used the shampoo for a month to get a real sense of how it works with my hair. I think the best way to describe what I think about the shampoo is that it was hydrating and my hair looked and felt healthy so that I did not need to also use conditioner. If I have a good shampoo my hair does better without conditioner, which can make my hair oily and flat so I prefer not to use it. Additionally, I started getting complements on my hair, which is not a complement I often receive.
Overall, I am impressed with the shampoo and recommend it. In addition to my hair being soft, my scalp is not dry at all. It also has a nice smell, not what you would expect from a shampoo with tea tree, which is probably from the lavender and rosemary oils. If you are interested in trying this or another product, Maple Holistics offers free samples so you can try it before buying one of their products.
